Facebook Page Singapura Stories was set up in July 2012. It is an independent collaborative platform focusing on the recovery and sharing of architectural and social histories with the associated cultural memory of buildings, neighborhoods, settlements, and communities that are no longer extant. It is committed to public education and sharing of these place histories through seminars and forums. It has also facilitated public discussion of findings by independent researchers, with the aim of gathering like-minded individuals with shared interests in specific topics, and encouraging documentation efforts by former residents of expunged places. The Singapore Stories Facebook Page publicizes and documents Singapura Stories’ seminars and forums and invites the public to share their memories and photographs through the Facebook page or by attending its seminars. It is also a means to disseminate news and stories about people, places and events that are less well-known or forgotten. This presentation will reveal how the admin managers of the Singapura Stories Facebook Page use online resources such as digitized newspapers, photographs and videos to tell the stories of the less well-known or forgotten people and places in Singapora.
